The camels are weeping...

April 25 (Reuters) - Bombers struck Egypt's Red Sea resort of Dahab on Monday, killing at least 23 people, including three foreigners, in three nearly simultaneous explosions.

"Im fine...anyway Im in Cairo..quite a distance from the resort." she replied nonchalantly from the other end of the line. Sophie, a long time ally :)is one of those who like to disappear without a trace. She called 3 mths ago to announce in a low key manner that she has decided to relocate to Egypt with her boyfriend. Not that i care. Anyway, i thought it was rather abrupt ..so unlike her. I know she favors Europe all this while..strange decision. Is she running from something?
"Listen Sophie..what car rental, cybercafe...and looking for workers..I do not understand your email..."
"It's very simple..anyone who wants to start a business here..contact me ok? anyway..it's expensive to talk..i have to hang up now..ciao!"
Modern single women are very bold nowadays..i salute the sisters but at the same time, I fear for their well-being.
In Dubai...I have met many young ladies from China and Philippines..came here on their own accord...leaving their loved ones at home..to seek a better future. Mostly on social passes...with limited finances...started hunting for all sort of jobs..door to door...etc Some even landed in the skin trade. And with all these bombings..life is so perilous.
Sophie..i wonder whether in the still of the night..far away from home..alone.. u ever shed a tear? If u have a friend like her...what will u do?

hmmm, I think relocating for work or a better future is very common these days even for women. Especially if she is starting a future with someone (her boyfriend in this case), then she has more stability. I have been living abroad for 5 years and it's the best thing that happened to me. yes you feel nostalgic and yes you feel lonely, but definitely you become a better person because of it.
i dont understand why you are worried though, i think i'm missing something :)

Well, you can let her know that you're concerned, but that's about all since she's an adult and will do what she wants regardless of what people say.

If you're close to anyone else in her family (like her sister or mother or cousin) you can discuss it with them. Unless she doesn't want her family to know where she is.

i have one such friend who does something similar. i worry about her but then i know that she can take care of urself. everybody likes to know that they know what they're doing. sometimes it's best to leave them to it...or else they might feel suffocated.

but...it is a brave thing to do.

Hello once again. Hope your well and happy. Do you fly to the U.S. I read in your last post that you flew to Jakarta? I used to frequent at least 2x a year to visit my sister and her husband where her hubby worked for a beer company as an ex pat. I love it especially North of Jakarta going to Dunia Safari where you can find the Tea plantations so calm, peaceful,...but sad to say, I haven't been to Bali...one day I will :( What airline carrier do you fly for? Singapore airlines? Oh well, gotta get back to work, at least it's a Friday here...So take care and be safe. :)
