A Tribute

The ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Maktoum bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who has died in Australia at the age of 62, presided over the transformation of the small Middle East kingdom into a thriving modern state.

The United Arab Emirates today lost a historic leader who devoted his life to establishing the UAE and enhancing its structure and the welfare of its people.

hi MD and uaebelle,

May I ask...both of u are from Dubai/UAE? care to share with us..we are outsiders working here..why are the two leaders so loved by many in the arab nations and even in other parts of the world? perhaps in your blogs..u could share with us their achievements etc..that will be very enlightening!

LoL.. I know they're different words, sorry for the spelling mistake, I wasn't concentrating =)
And yeah we are from the UAE. Sheikh Zayed is loved by many other arab nations because he had done a lot for them. He was involved in a lot charity work. He built schools, hospitals, etc in countries like Palestine, Yemen and other poor countries which are living under difficult circumstances. and not to mention what he already did to the UAE. It really feels wierd that he's not around anymore. Since we were kids we have called him "Baba Zayed". We still do actually!
heyy I blabbed a lot =P
C ya around..

But what did he die of? He was relatively young, early 60's I believe, and from what I understand the country is not releasing the cause of death. How strange is that!
